Nice 1-0 Le Havre
By: Martha | January 13th, 2009Doesn’t matter how late the goal [video here] came or who the opponent was — what matters is that Nice are into the semis. Hell yes.
(Report when I can find and watch the match, probably Thursday.)

Hi there, bit random this, but maybe you can help. I’m a Shrewsbury Town fan in England and Nice bought one of our players last year, Derek Asamoah. Just wondering what’s happened to him and how he’s doing? Seemed a bit of a strange transfer to us, given that he was only just a English lower league player, not a top level player in any country. Thanks, Mark.

Mark, someone asked about him a few months ago, and I have NO idea where he is, but it’s not at Nice — from his Facebook account, it looks like he’s back in England, but I don’t know if he’s even playing anymore. He may have been released by mutual agreement, but I’ll be damned if I can find any evidence that actually happened.

Hi Martha, thanks very much for your reply, I’d imagine whoever asked was probably also a shrewsbury fan, it was so strange and our club had no answers.
Apparently he just disappeared from training one day and turned up in the south of France! Nice paid £50,000 for him, but as I’ve said it was none-sensical that a top level club would take him – Shrewsbury are in the English 4th tier.
It almost seemed, speculating though this is, as though some deal was put together by a agent or someone to serve somebody’s purpose, even though it was obvious he would never be useful in a football sense. The fact he’s just gone off the radar since would allude to something fishy happening – if he was back in England there are certaintly teams at Shrewsbury’s level that would be interested, despite what was reported as a “shocking and unprofessional” attitude.
The football family has some secrets it seems!!
Thanks again, Mark.Posted from
