Nice-Bordeaux Stream

For anyone interested, here’s a stream (embedded under the cut, because it autoplays) — it’s crappy, but it’s all I’ve got so far. If anyone has something better, please drop it in the comments.

Maybe that’s why he did start?

Ospina’s made some big saves, he gets off his line really well. That’s a good thing.

I am so so happy that Wendel’s back. He’s been outta shape for a while and had been quite depressed about it ):

Oh no, Blanc is nervous. He put that thing back into his mouth. I think it’s a lollipop. How does one last for 90 mins? I wonder…

I don’t think he was offside even though everyone (Bordeaux) was protesting.

I’ll be reading angry interviews/posts until about next Tuesday when Bordeaux has another game..
This late equalizer curse is bad indeed.

It’s nice from a Nice perspective to be the one drawing level late, for once. Have Bordeaux been making a habit of giving up late goals?

    So how was Ospina????

Also, Remy is only one goal shy of tying with Super Boy Benzema. I bet Aulas is weeping somewhere right now.

Aw, good for Remy! Perfect for when Lyon buy him right back …

Ospina was possibly at fault on the first goal, it was hard to tell — it was a free kick from VERY far out that snuck inside the post, and he either couldn’t see or just reacted very late. But he made a point-blank save with his legs when it was 1-0, and flew out off his line to close down breaks well twice (the defense were a shambles for a while). Apart from that first goal, I’d say he was very, very good — the forums are going crazy with joy.

And I gather Hugo’s replacement was ok, since there was no score? Is the defense getting batter?

A straw? That’s even weirder than candy!

Letting in late goals has been a bit of a trend, but especially recently..

By the way, here is the site with the stats. I don’t know if there is a Nice site or for other clubs, but you should poke your head around the main site..

I don’t know if Remy will want to come back. He’s got to be feeling pretty bitter by how easily Lyon let him go.

Vercoutre was probably Lyon’s best player today, if the post-match votes on the forums are to be believed. It’s a pretty sad day when the #2 keeper does the best job in a team that wants to be a top ten European club. But Vercoutre is a pretty decent keeper, not a Coupet or Lloris, but a great #2. I think he’d be a starter for some of the smaller L1 clubs, and he keeps getting offers, but he doesn’t want to leave for some reason, and Lyon weirdly don’t want to let him go either.

Jennifer, maybe it is a trend right now. All French CL clubs seem to be giving up weird and/or cheap late goals.

Also, I checked out that stats page. It’s run by what looks to be a Bordeaux community website, so sadly, no other teams.

But I’m sure stats like that can be found. The LFP and even surprisingly ESPN maintain good stats. OL’s website has this really awesome stat center that tells you every detail you could ever possibly know about every OL match. My brain can’t handle all the data, it’s so much. I know Nice has a bunch of well run fansites, I’m sure they have links to something.

How old is Vercoutre, Inara? Is he of the age where he’s content to back up a better keeper at a great club, or is it younger, when you’d think he should be trying to establish himself elsewhere?

Thanks for the stats link, Jennifer, and for confirming what my non-French speaking self found there, Inara — I couldn’t find anything else, either. Damn. I do read the LFP’s site, though, as well as the Nice fan sites, so some of that is definitely available …

I’m assuming you’ve seen this, but just in case

…..It looks like I should be on forums like the above mentioned too.

Vercoutre is 28, which is young in keeper years. He really ought to be starting at another club, and he even has several CL games under his belt. I don’t get why he’s okay with being the #2, even at Lyon. The rewards of playing a handful of games every year doesn’t seem that rewarding when you could do better.

Also Martha, about Cyril #1, do you know that he’s been the highest earner of negative points on the L1 fairplay table for the last five seasons?
